Majority of the schools do not provide extra-curricular activities and After-School Programs.
Access to paid homework help trainings are not feasible for the less privileged.
Although teachers and principals are strong proponents of social and emotional learning for their students, schools struggle with the implementation of social and emotional learning practices during the school hours, due to lack of motivation, lack of sufficient time focused on building social and emotional skills, lack of training for teachers and administrators, and the lack of integration of social and emotional learning into educational practices.
Extra curricular activities and After-School Programs, provide a channel for reinforcing the lessons learned in the classroom, give the less privileged children a chance to develop their social skills, raise their positive social natures and also aid them in the development of self-esteem and confidence.
After school programs offer children the chance to have fun and feel comforted, as well as be excited by learning.
ESLP Foundation provides help with homework, tutoring, and other learning activities.
Because it is after school and not more school they have the time to roll up their sleeves and have fun while learning.
It is a time they can play while building relationships, academic enrichment, and a sense of belonging to a family.
This is truly integrating social and emotional learning into everything they do after school.
Because after-school programs can support social, emotional, cognitive, and academic development, reduce risky behaviors, promote physical health, and provide a safe and supportive environment for the less privileged children, ESLP is laying much emphasis on embracing a vision that each less privileged child deserves access to education and quality after-school programs.
